Global Afrique Welfare Foundation was conceived, established, and initially single-handedly funded by Mr. Abdul Akeem Mahmud in October 2019. The organization came because of purely compassionate that Mr. Mahmud has towards people generally and the negligence he sees every day that the victims of natural and synthetic victims suffered. He therefore put it upon himself as a means to give back to society by put together a Team of professionals in Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) to establish the organization and realize his vision of alleviating the suffering of disaster victims and bring succor to them.
In Nigeria, with a population of nearly 200 million people, it is very disheartening that overall life expectancy is 55 years! What is more disturbing is the fact that most deaths are not from natural causes and sometimes could be avoidable and preventable if proper and adequate emergency platforms and humanitarian services are put in place. On daily basis, our media (traditional and social media) is bombarded with news of many Nigerians slummed and died on the road due to cardiac arrest, exhaustion, and other forms of critical health conditions. In as much as credits is given to the social media that report some of these cases online, it is disheartening to note that many people are only interested in snapping and sending pictures of victims online without anyone (government or individual) providing a first-hand assistance or rapidly response to the emergency situation to save the lives of the victims.
It is therefore based on the negligence, non-responsiveness, and inadequate care suffered by victims in an emergency that Global Afrique Foundation is providing an alternative to compliment government efforts in providing succor to victims in an emergency. Government efforts is also recently demonstrated by establishing a newly created Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development. This newly created Ministry will be our key partner/ally in the course of the program.
